Wildflowers & Wheat: a Rustic Wedding

I love a wildflower wedding and when Mary married Jason last August in my home village of Loughbrickland, I got to mix fresh seasonal wildflowers in shades of lilac and lavender with a little bit of wheat for a nod to the season and the resulting bouquets were just fab!! Plus we had lots of pretty details with hair flowers, rustic buttonholes and gin bottle tablecentres!

Mary & Jason are celebrating their first anniversary today and I wanted to celebrate it by sharing some of their precious memories. Happy anniversary guys and thank you for choosing Ditsy Floral Design to be involved in your special day. Photos by Mark Barton Photography.

Mary also sent me this lovely comment:

“Thank you so so much Elaine!! I loved my flowers!!! You made everything come together so perfectly!!!! Amazing job!!!”

 It was my pleasure xx

Joanna & Patrick ‘Married at the Mill’

I am so excited to share these memories from Joanna & Patrick’s wedding at The Mill at Ballydugan, 2nd December 2017. Gorgeous wildflower styling and rich jewel colours, this wedding just epitomises my ‘just picked’ wildflower floristry style.

These beautiful photos were captured by Peter Mackey Photography.  Thank you for sharing them with me and giving me free reign to design and create your beautiful bridal bouquets. Much love xx.

Striking Peacock inspired Wildflowers for Fiona & Mark at the Ballymac Hotel

I am so excited to share these stunning documentary style images by Dylan McBurney Photography that capture some of the special moments of Fiona & Mark’s real wedding Sat 4th Feb 2017. Fiona wanted to mix dramatic peacock feathers with wildflowers and spring tulips for something a little different to the norm…a fantastic creative brief for Ditsy Floral Design. Fiona wore a beautiful dress from Petticoat Lane Bridal and the bridesmaids in teal wore stunning hand crafted headpieces and capes by Lorsha Design. The girls all looked stunning with makeup by Stacey at S.A.K Designs. The reception was held in the Ballymacscanlon House Hotel, Dundalk. Enjoy x

Quirky Vintage Wildflowers for an August Wedding

Julie and Shawn are celebrating their #oneyear anniversary today and I just had to share some happy memories of their bright and beautiful wedding day.12042896_480469482078368_9081309714319031813_n

They were married in the pretty little chapel in Magheralin and celebrated at Hugh McCann’s, Newcastle afterwards. The bridal bouquets were wildflower styled with a clash of bright summer colours, blue delphiniums, thistles, veronica, coral Miss Piggy roses, mini daisies and wax flower.

Julie hand-crafted the most beautiful jam jars for posy jars and these were placed on a pile of vintage style books to create a quirky table centre décor in the venue. My chalkboard ‘Mr & Mrs’ crate and Old School ‘Pick a Seat Not a Side’ Chalkboard complimented the quirky vintage theme. The professional photos were taken by Joanne Kearney Photography. Happy anniversary guys xx

Darver Wedding with Summer Wildflowers

Elaine and Steve tied the knot in the little Parish Church in Darver, Co Louth on a gorgeous summer day last August. The celebrations continued across the road in beautiful Darver Castle. The bridesmaids wore short vintage style dresses in blue/teal and we picked a strong pop of raspberry to contrast with the teal and styled the flowers on natural and wild summer wildflowers. The bouquets contained raspberry spray roses, lisianthus, scented stocks, blue nigella, baby’s breath and locally grown eucalyptus.  The Groom loves superheros, so a quirky twist was the addition of the gorgeous little lego superheros to the buttonholes. The bride sourced these on Ebay!

Happy first anniversary guys and thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos by the very talented Peter Thomas Photography with me. Fab memories! x

Judith was a delight to work with and we had such fun planning the rustic vintage wildflower venue styling for The Tullylagan House Hotel outside Cookstown.

These beautiful photos were taken by Graham Crichton Photography, the Northern Ireland Wedding Awards 2016 Photographer of the Year and clearly a very talented guy. You can check out all the photo’s on Graham’s blog here: http://www.grahamcrichton.com/2016/04/wedding-early-spring-tullylagan-house-hotel-wedding-judith-and-michael/

Congratulations Judith and Michael, it was an honour to be part of your special day.

Fairs, Fayres and Celebrations

September has been a hectic month for #DitsyFloralDesign from Wedding Fayres or Bridal Fairs to my own Wedding Anniversary celebrations – five years whoa! The traditional five-year wedding anniversary gift is wood 😦 and the traditional flower of this year is the daisy…now that’s more my style! However, a pamper trip to the fabulous Slieve Russell Hotel is also very much my style!

Some pics to recap my flowery creativity and adventures doing the local wedding fair circuit this month…

Belmont Hotel, Banbridge, Sun 7th September 2014
The Belmont is definitely my local, being the closest wedding venue to my house in Loughbrickland and I was so excited to showcase my #vintagebike for the first time. Laden with a basket of #seasonalflowers it created quite a spin!! Lots of interest in #seasonalweddingflowers and #vintagewedding styling, great day for #DitsyFloral!

Bannville House Hotel, Banbridge, Tue 23rd September 2014
The Bannville House Hotel, is situated just outside Banbridge and is really moving into the wedding market with a newly refurbished function room. My new Creamery can had its first outing at the Bannville and I loved creating the large, loose and natural style flower arrangement to sit on top #milkchurnflowers #countrystyleweddingflowers. Again lots of interest in #seasonalweddingflowers and #somethingdifferent from #DitsyFloral.

Edenmore Golf & Country Club, Sun 28th September 2014
Then last but certainly not least was the beautiful Edenmore, set in themo most picturesque grounds imaginable and on a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon it was perfect for all the prospective brides and grooms. Creamery can crates and chalk boards were my design inspiration this time as well as a beautiful #homegrown Café au Lait dahlia which took centre stage in my sample bouquet! Lots of interest in #justpickedfromthegarden #weddingflowers 🙂
